- entire product is of high quality.
- seat is 14" in diameter, over 3" thick and is about as comfortable as any such seat could be. Seat cloth seems to be tough material.
- stool can be assembled in under 5 minutes with no tools. Everything is a press fit. Once you sit on the assembled stool, the various parts are in to stay.
- seat swivels 360 degrees on a ball-bearing platform.
- the included casters work well on a hardwood or concrete floor, even though they appear to be designed for carpet.
- comes with a short height-extension tube. (The "Drafting Kit" adds the circular foot rest and a long extension tube.)
- the circular foot rest would be a welcome accessory if either height-extension tube is used, otherwise, you feet will "dangle" in the air. The foot rest is all steel, works well, and can be adjusted for height.
- a pneumatic gas lift seat height adjustment is controlled by a lever under the seat. By pulling up on this lever, the seat can be set up/down over a range of 4".
- the seat height can be adjusted as follows, depending on how you configure the stool:
... with NO extension tube, the seat can be adjusted from 19" to 23" high
... with the short tube, the seat can be adjusted from 26" to 30" high
... with the long tube, the seat can be adjusted from 29" to 33" high
- The seat compresses about 2" when my 260 pound bulk sits down.
- I've been using a similar OFM brand chair (same base and footrest) for a dozen years, and have had zero problems.
Summary:
We're quite satisfied with this product. It's a very nice stool, is attractive, and is a good value.
PS: If you buy this stool, here's a tip: The footrest axis has a circular steel sleeve that fits over the stool's base post. That sleeve has a locking screw and a plastic liner to take up any slack. Align the locking screw in the gap of the plastic liner so it presses directly against the metal post. If the screw presses into the plastic, the footrest will wobble, and the plastic will be distorted.
