(More customer reviews)I have purchased a total of 6 of these stools. At the present time, two have broken structural parts. The cross wood pieces that hold the pivot mechanism have broken, two on one of the stools and one on the other. Fortunately I am a home handyman and can make new wood pieces to repair the broken cross pieces. The fractures resulted from what appears to be parts made using wood where the grain is running in the wrong direction and makes the structure very weak.
The breakage on one occurred when I sat down on it. The one cross piece had already split prior to staining as there were stain marks on the surface of the split area. The other cross part broke because of grain direction. On the other stool, the cross piece is split and I have not disassembled it as yet to find out if it was split before staining or if it was only cracked after staining. The rest of the stools appear to be functioning alright.
I like the stools and that is why I am repairing them, but I am disappointed in the quality control that allowed the stool to be put together and shipped to a customer even though a cross piece was already split. I would hope that this comment will stimulate a review of the operator and quality control inspection procedures so that no more of these type failures get out of the factory. Perhaps a redesign of the structuring is in order to beef up these cross pieces so that they do not fracture easily.
