Step-stool, footstool, very informal temporary seating near the floor, kiddie chair, plant stand, little table for a drink when you're sitting on the floor... versatility is its great feature. I bought the set of two. Good quality and good price. Unfortunately the shipping cost as much as the product. (I knew the shipping cost before placing the order of course.) It is still a few dollars savings over other online places selling the individual stools. The natural finish complements Scandinavian type furniture, especially because it looks like beech. It is said to be hardwood, so it probably IS beech. Much nicer and more durable than pine, the 'poor man's beechwood', these stools are well-made and good value.
