(More customer reviews)We bought two sets of the Tendy Bar stools as well as a set of four Tendy chairs, and absolutely love them. They have the tasteful modern look of the Jacobsen Series 7 or the Cherner design, at a fraction of the cost. The natural bent plywood is finished in a clear lacquer with a light gloss that protects it without adding too much shine. The stools are sturdy, and stand up well to our kids climbing on them. Although I suppose I would have preferred a stainless steel finish, the chrome legs are very attractive.
The stools were packed two to a box. When compared to the Tendy chairs, there are a few important differences.
First, the wooden backs do not extend up as high on the stools as they do on the chairs. When compared side to side, they are around three inches shorter. I'm not sure why they designed them this way, unless it was done so that they would fit in a smaller box to reduce shipping costs. Other than the slightly lower back, the wooden part of the bar stool is interchangeable with that of the Tendy chairs.
Secondly, the protective feet on the bar stools that we received are a flat, plastic design that does not appear to be as nice as the rounder, rubberized ones on the Tendy chairs.
Lastly, the bar stools have a chrome H-shaped foot rest that must be bolted to the legs. There was a problem with welding slag interfering with the internal screw threads on one of the legs on our stools. We contacted customer service at ItalModern (EuroStyle), and they responded the same day with an email, followed it up with a phone call, and a replacement part was received in a few days. We were very pleased with the customer service response.
All in all, these chairs offer a great combination of modern design, quality construction, and low cost.
